We Give Books

CHALLENGE

Pearson Foundation reached out to UCG with the task of helping them reach their goal of giving away 30,000 books in 30 days to school children in Texas. This was part of a larger initiative for We Give Books as they wanted to introduce teachers and students to their new website which allows students to read books for free online.  

SOLUTION

• Wrapped tour vehicle traveled around Texas stopping at 24 schools for interactive events
• Each event included an interactive read-along by one of the tour staff members for the book of the day.  Staff would also emphasize the important of books and reading and introduced them to the We Give Books Website
• Students created wall murals which were hung up in classrooms
• Each student received their own copy of the book of the day to bring home
• Teachers were also educated about the website via portable tables so they could use it in the classroom and educate parents as well

RESULTS

• 30,000 hard cover books were given to schools children in cities across Texas
• More than 250 We Give Books Wall Murals were colored by students and hung up in classrooms
• Over 500 teacher interactions over the one month tour
• Over 200,000 driving impressions
